SCAMeL Publication Award

This award, which is sponsored by the South Central Academic Medical Libraries Consortium (SCAMeL), will be awarded at the SCC/MLA annual meeting for a work published by a member during the previous calendar year. A cash award of $750 will be provided by SCAMeL.

IMPORTANT: Since 2026 is the inaugural year for this award, authors may submit publications from either 2024 or 2025.

Publications can by nominated by anyone, including self-nomination. If you are nominating a work by someone else, they will be contacted to confirm they want to be considered and to make the primary author attestations below. The primary author needs to be an SCC/MLA member at the time of publication as well as the annual meeting.

The work may be any topic or style provided the primary author is an SCC member. The work is not required to be research. For example, a peer-reviewed article, a technical case study, or a work of fiction written by an SCC member is eligible. Conversely, a systematic review where the SCC member is a search contributor, but not the primary author, is not eligible. Pre-prints and self-published works are not eligible.

A publication can only be considered once, but authors can win the award multiple times for different publications.

After submission, the primary author will be contacted to confirm the following attestations:

  1. Use the nomination form to submit a publication. The primary author will then be contacted to submit the following attestation: Confirm that they are the primary author and wish to be considered for the award.
  2. Attest they are substantially responsible for the content of the publication and take responsibility for any award disbursements to co-authors.
  3. Attest to the publication as an original work.
  4. Disclose any delegation of tasks to generative AI, such as that generated by the GAIDeT taxonomy.
