The South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association, Inc. (SCC/MLA) is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 educational organization.This privacy policy explains how SCC/MLA collects, uses, and safeguards information provided to us by our members and contacts.
This policy applies to your use of the SCC/MLA website (sccmla.org), conference registration websites (SCC/MLA Sites), or their paper equivalents (e.g., forms, ballots), which are operated by or on behalf of SCC/MLA. This policy does not apply to your use of other websites to which SCC/MLA Sites may link.
Any Personal Information that is collected by SCC/MLA is used to help us better serve our members and the health science library community and to improve your user experience. We collect or store only Personal Information that our members and visitors provide. SCC/MLA does not collect Personal Information from casual public users browsing SCC/MLA Sites.
In the event of a security incident or breach, SCC/MLA will notify you without delay after becoming aware of the incident and will provide you with our next steps to protect your Personal Information.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

The SCC/MLA retains Personal Information regarding members indefinitely and guest data for at least seven years as dictated by business, use, and legal requirements. You may access, update, or correct your Personal Information or remove it from SCC/MLA Sites by making a request to us at the contact information provided below.
For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. SCC/MLA website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Requests typically receive a response within thirty (30) days. If access or removal cannot be provided within that time frame, we will provide the requesting party with an estimated date by which the information will be provided. If for some reason access is denied, we will provide an explanation of why access has been denied.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. RegFox acts as data processor on behalf of SCC/MLA for personal information that resides on annual conference websites.
8am Affinipay, Stripe, and Square acts as data processor on behalf of SCC/MLA for financial transactions for SCC/MLA sites, for meeting registration, and for meeting exhibit fees.

As our organization, membership benefits, and data collection may change from time to time, this Privacy Policy is expected to change as well. We reserve the right to amend the online Privacy Statement at any time, for any reason. SCC/MLA will provide notice of Privacy Policy changes on the SCC/MLA homepage and in email messages to users.
